G8 Branch
Made up of German, Belgium, Spanish and French personnel, G8 is the branch responsible for the preparation of the multinational communally funded Eurocorps (EC) budget. It provides the Headquarters with the necessary financial, audit and contracting support. All contributing nations participate in the shared funding of the EC budget through the 'EC Senior Resources Board'.
The Common Committee and representatives of our five framework nations give the final consent to both our budget and the medium-term financial planning. To face the new challenges resulting from the certification as NRDC HQ it is essential for the headquarters to have modern equipment for training at its disposal.
This explains why the multinational budget covers not only the HQ's exercises and home base operating costs, but also major infrastructure costs as well as some of the most important investments in crucial equipment that EC needs to accomplish its mission.
As the most important feature of the new, adjusted structure of G8, the use of NATO financial procedures and regulations gives the branch the capability to be ready in case of operational deployments. For these deployments, G8 also has to define and manage a NATO-approved budget and sustain financial control over all areas.
In that specific case, the role of the branch in financial and contracting activities is especially important, real life support and administration of the HQ itself being at stake. This means that G8 representatives are always members of the Fact Finding Team (FFT) and members of all command posts (CP) echelons planned in the EC concept.
