Loading for Cape Verde.

Strasbourg/Entzheim (France), 27th April 2006.

Together with the exercise Steadfast Jackpot 06, the logistic preparation of the next exercise, Steadfast Jaguar 06, is already taking place on the Entzheim Airfield. The main hangar is indeed buzzing with tremendous activity: forklifts are moving around dozens of pallets loaded with barbed wire reels, folded inflatable tents, heating devices,…

Actually this is the preparation for the real deployment to Cape Verde for Steadfast Jaguar in June this year. In total, 65 containers were loaded in two days with command post equipment, tents, fortification equipment,… These containers will be transported by train to the French harbours of Toulon to be embarked on ships that will transport them to Cape Verde. 30 more containers with accommodation tents will be sent from Amstetten (Germany). Oversize containers will be transported from Strasbourg to Zeebrugge (Belgium) and shipped from there. The total amount of containers exceeds 100.

40 vehicles will be loaded on a train in Strasbourg and head for the harbour of La Rochelle, where they will embark on a ship bound for Cape Verde. To be continued...
