High ranking authorities from Framework Nations visit Headquarters Eurocorps

Strasbourg - 11th January 2008 – This afternoon, high ranking authorities, including several Ministers of Defence from Eurocorps’s Framework Nations, visited our Headquarters.

 

Lieutenant General Pedro Pitarch, Eurocorps Commander, welcomed the French Minister of Defence, Hervé Morin, the German Minister of Defence, Dr. Franz Josef Jung, the Belgian Minister of Defence, Pieter De Crem, the Luxembourg Minister of Defence, Jean-Louis Schiltz, as well as the Spanish Secretary General of Defence Policy, Luis Manuel Cuesta Civis.

 

General Jean-Louis Georgelin, Chief of the French Defence Staff, General Bruno Cuche, Chief of Staff of the French Army, and General Stéphane Abrial, Chief of Staff of the French Air Force, accompanied the French Minister of Defence.

 

The civilian and military authorities of Strasbourg and the region of Alsace, including the Prefect of Alsace, Jean-Marc Rebière, the Mayor of Strasbourg, Fabienne Keller, the President of the Urban Community of Strasbourg, Robert Grossmann and the Commander of the French Northeast Military District, General Faugère, also attended the visit.

 

After being were greeted by a multinational honour company, the representatives of the Framework Nations were updated on the capabilities of Eurocorps as a High Readiness Headquarters, then moved to the Deployable Command Post of Eurocorps which was presented to them on the Headquarters’ Training Platform.
