Eurocorps starts exercise Common Tenacity 06

Eurocorps Headquarters Aubert de Vincelles, 16th October 2006.

In the early morning hours Eurocorps has started its exercise nicknamed "Common Tenacity 06". After the inprocessing sequence and a series of briefings setting the scenario, a short military parade officially opened the exercise.

Lieutenant-General Charles Henri Delcour addressed the troops and stressed that Eurocorps can only maintain its operational level - even during an operational stand by period - by training and exercising more and more. He declared that "the aims of Common Tenacity 2006 are primarily to integrate our newcomers who arrived during last summer, to refresh our knowledge in NRF matters and procedures, hence keeping our readiness at a high level, and possibly to enhance our proficiency in a few typical NRF missions that we did not deal with in any depth during the previous exercises : embargo operations, consequence management and Non-combatants Evacuation Operations (NEOs)".

Until 26th October some 500 military will participate in one or other way to this NRF7 (NATO Response Force, 7th Rotation) oriented training, wherein some 65 augmentees from external units and staffs. It is the first time that Eurocorps exercises in its new command post training area within its own compound. This specific training area was constructed in such a way that a Command Post can be deployed under tents or in shelters in realistic conditions. Common Tenacity 2006 is the fifth exercise in the frame of the preparation and the participation of Eurocorps in the NRF, as NRF7 Land Component. Common Tenacity aims to integrate Eurocorps Staff's newcomers and evaluates at teh same time a product driven scenario and the new training environment in the Aubert de Vincelles compound.
