1951 : Born in Oberhausen (Germany), he lives in Darmstadt, Karlsruhe, Luxemburg and Mönchengladbach.

1970 - 1971 : He studies in the USA and obtains his "High School Diploma".

1972 : He joins the "Bundeswehr", and becomes an officer cadet of the 314th Armoured Battalion in Oldenburg (Germany).

1973 - 1976 : He studies Economy and Organisational Sience at the university of the "Bundeswehr" in Hamburg (Germany). He obtains the diploma of "Diplom-Kaufmann".

1976 - 1980 : He is platoon commander and then S2 of the 314th Armoured Battalion in Oldenburg (Germany).

1980 - 1983 : He is Company Commander of "Panzerlehrbataillon 93" in Munster (Germany).

1983 - 1984 : He follows the 26th General Staff Cours at the "Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr" in Hamburg (Germany).

1984 - 1986 : He follows the French General Staff Course (98th Promotion) at the "Ecole de Guerre" in Paris (France).

1986 - 1988 : He is the deputy G3 of the 29th Armoured Brigade in Sigmaringen (Germany).

1988 - 1991 : He is the "Referent" at the "BMVg - Stabsabteilung FüS III" in Bonn (Germany).

1991 - 1993 : He commands the 164/174 Armoured Battalion in Schwarzenbek (Germany).

1993 - 1996 : As G3, he is responsible for Exercises and the developement of the Partnership for Peace Programm at SHAPE in Mons (Belgium).

1997 : He particiaptes at SFOR in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

1997 - 1999 : He becomes the branch chief Security Policy and Armed Forces at the "Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr" in Hamburg (Germany).

1999 : He is the Chief of Staff of the Multinational Brigade SE in Mostar (Bosnia-Herzegovina).

1999 - 2001 : He commands the French German Brigade in Mülsheim (Germany).

2000 : He is the Chief of Staff of SFOR in Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina).

2001 : Since October 1st 2001, he is the Deputy Chief of Staff Support of the HQ Eurocorps in Strasbourg (France)
