Lieutenant General KAMMERHOFF was born on March 5, 1945 in St. Andreasberg/Harz.

He joined the Bundeswehr in 1965 with the 291st Paratroopers Battalion in Stetten a.k.M. After completing his training as officer, he was assigned in Nienburg and Lüneburg as platoon leader and company commander.
From 1976 to 1978 he followed the general staff training course at the Staff College, Hamburg. Afterwards he was assigned as G4 then G3 in the 8th Armoured Brigade Lüneburg.
He was then employed as deputy branch chief in the Army Staff in the Ministry of Defence. From October 1983 to March 1986 he commanded the 302nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion in Ellwangen. After his command period he was assigned as G3 staff officer in HQ CENTAG, Heidelberg.
From October 1988 to December 1990 he was Chief of Staff of the 3rd Armoured Division in Buxtehude. After attending the UK Higher Command and Staff Course he was posted to the Ministry of Defence/Army Staff as branch chief military policy and operations.
From February 1992 to September 1995, General Kammerhoff commanded the 23rd Mountain Infantry Brigade in Bad Reichenhall. In this period he commanded the 2nd German contingent UNOSOM in Somalia as national commander from November 1993 to March 1994.
In 1995 he was the General for Training and Education Affairs in the Army Office. In April 1996 General Kammerhoff was assigned as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Corps. In this function from March to November 1996 during the NATO-operation in Bosnia-Hercegovina he commanded the IFOR Headquarters (COMMZ/Fwd) in Croatia.
In January 1998 he took command of Wehrbereichskommando IV (4th military region) and the 5th Armoured Division in Mainz . In July 1999 he was posted as Assistant Director in NATO's International Military Staff in Brussels and took over the responsibility of the Operations Division in NATO-Headquarters.
Since December 10, 2001 he is the fifth Commanding General of the Eurocorps.
General Kammerhoff is married and has one daughter.
