Commanding General inspects exercise Command Post Training II

On Monday 9th June 2008 (S+3) in the afternoon the Commanding General of HQ Eurocorps, Lieutenant General Pedro Pitarch, accompanied by Brigadier General Georg Nachtsheim, inspected the EC's on-going CP Training.

15h00: At the training platform the Commanding General was welcomed by the Site Commander team. He then arrived in the Directing Staff (DISTAFF) area and after a short briefing he met with all the exercise participants. At the bird table (a situation map) he discovered the current positions of the units including the naval presence at sea. In DISTAFF he then visited High Control (manned by soldiers of the Land Component Command of Madrid and 1GE/NL Corps of Münster), Flank Control, White Cell, and the Situation of Forces. At Low Control he visited the Main Subordinated Units (MSUs) like the Spanish Division of Burgos, the 17th Polish Mechanized Brigade of Międzyrzeczu, the French Division EMF2 of Nantes and the Belgian 7th Medium Bde of Marche-en-Famenne.

16h00:At the entrance of the Initial Command Post (ICP), Brigadier General Ramirez, acting as Commander of the Initial Entry Force(L) welcomed COMEC. The ICP is the Primary Training Audience (PTA) of this exercise and therefore very important. First COMEC was briefed on the situation before he visited the different functional areas.

He went to the Public Information Office, the Legal Advisers, the Military Police, the Communication and Information Branch, the Logistical Branch, the Communication and Information Control Centre (CISCC) where he saw the impressive network concentrators and were he highlighted the importance of their work. He paid a visit to the Financial Branch, the Personnel Branch, the Medical Branch, the Civilo-Military Co-operation Branch which deals with the Displaced Persons and Refugees Camps, as well as to the Air Operation Control Centre, the Helpdesk, the Engineers Branch. The Joint Operation Centre (JOC), the newly established and currently tested Joint Effects Centre (JEC) and last but not least to the Multinational Command Support Brigade (MNCS Bde) Communication and Information System (CIS) department were his further highlights. Here he met Corps Troop members from the 48th (FRA) Transmission Regiment (RT) of Agen (France).
