Command Post Training II: Saturday work continues

Strasbourg (France), 7th June 2008

Seville (Perseus) Today work continued at the Initial Command Post (ICP) of Land Component Command of EUFOR AP. The Initial Command Post commands and controls the Initial Entry Forces during their deployment, reception, staging and onward movement phase. Units near the border of Auriga are evaluating and even preparing for initial operations.

Even on Saturday the Battle Staff Rhythm imposes its series of meetings, planning sequences, contacts with the Home Base, reports to and from the Main Subordinated Units and the gathering cycle of information. The morning briefing informs everybody on the latest status and offers the details of the on-going operations in the Area of Responsibility of the Force.

The Joint Operation Centre (JOC) keeps tracking and evaluating all the information sent to the Command Post. They are the eyes and ears of the operation inside ICP. They immediately ring the alarm bell if something important happens and allow the Land Force Commander to take action accordingly.

On the training platform a lot of soldiers have the task to make this entity work smoothly, like the Site Commander team, the Helpdesk, the CIS intervention team and many others.

The training platform makes it possible for Eurocorps members to systematically improve their professional know-how and to preserve their acquired knowledge, namely: the certification “NATO High Readiness Force (HRF)”, the certification “NATO Response Force (NRF)” and the validation of EC’s Initial Command Post concept.
