Jean-Paul CRAVILLON

Général-Major Jean-Paul CRAVILLON, Engineer, was born in Bruges in 1946.
He enters the Armed Forces for the first time in 1961 to end his secondary education at the Royal Military School for cadets in Laeken (Brussels).
After having obtained a degree in civil engineering at the Division Polytechnique of the Royal Military Academy, he joins the Logistical Corps. In 1971, he attends the first session of preparatory training for second-lieutenants at the Army Logistical Centre and at the Material Logistical College.
For the next ten years, he served in the Belgian Armed Forces stationed in Germany. He was first assigned as workshop officer and supply officer to the 4th Supply and Material Company and later as supply officer to the 2nd Logistical Group where he takes the command of the 230th Maintenance Company.
In 1981, after finishing his training course for high ranked officers, he was assigned to the Army Staff, where he was appointed first to the logistic technical section and then to the Evaluation and Information Systems Section. During these years, he served in the Reserve commanding the 12th Material Company and then as logistical officer (S4) for the 12th Armoured Infantry Brigade.
In 1985, after attending the US Army Command and General Staff College, he graduated and received the "Master Logistician Award". Back in Belgium, he attended the Staff Course at the Defence College where he graduated as staff officer. He was awarded a prize for his "Study on the chain of supply of Class V ressources". by the Chief of Defence. He stayed at the Defence College teaching "information systems".
In 1988, he was appointed to the Defence Staff as Chief of the Personnel Branch.
From October,17 1990 until May 14, 1993 he commanded the 29th Logistical Batallion and the Belgian Garrison in Aachen, Germany.
When he came back to Brussels, he was appointed Chief of the Synthesis Division at the Defence Staff. On December,18 1993 he was assigned head of the "Plans, Programme and Budget" section at the Defence Staffs Budget Branch.
On March 26, 1999 he was promoted to the rank of Major General. On December 30, 1999 he took the command of the Logistic Support Division. He left this unit on December 31, 2001, when the Division is disbanded .
On February 22, 2002, he took up the function of Deputy Commander of the Eurocorps.
Général-major J-P. CRAVILLON is married and has three daughters.
