Eurocorps will hoist the European flag

Strasbourg – On the occasion of the European Day on the 9th of May, 2004, an honour detachment of Eurocorps will hoist the European flag in front of the European Parliament in Strasbourg at 5.00 p.m., following an invitation by the President of the Parliament.

Soldiers from the five Eurocorps member states - Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg and Spain – will take part in this ceremony to which Luftwaffenmusikkorps 2, a military band from Karlsruhe (Germany), will provide the musical background.

Before the ceremony, which will be attended by senior representatives of the European Parliament, the region and the city of Strasbourg as well as the Commanding General of Eurocorps, Lieutenant General Jean-Louis Py, the military band will give an outdoor concert.

On the Open Day of the European Parliament, Eurocorps will present itself at an info stall in the parliamentary building beginning at 10.00 a.m. the same day.
