Change of Command at Eurocorps - German general takes over

The change of command will take place between the Spanish Teniente General Juan ORTUÑO and the German Generalleutnant Holger KAMMERHOF on December 10th 2001 in Strasbourg.

Amiral Antonio Moreno Barbera, Chief of Staff of the Spanish Defense will preside the ceremony and procede to the investiture of the new commander. Vice-admiraal Willy Herteleer, Chief of the General Staf of the Belgian Armed Forces, Général d'Armée Jean-Pierre Kelche, Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces, General Harald Kujat, Inspecteur-Generalinspekteur of the "Bundeswehr" and Colonel Guy Lenz, Chief of Staff of the van het Luxembourg Army, will be present.

High military autorities of the European Union and NATO honor this ceremony with their presence. The ceremony marks the end of a period in which the Headquarters Eurocorps commanded KFOR from april to october 2000, followed by a complete restructuration.

This restructuration will continue during the next months in order to transform this big multinational unit into a Rapid Reaction Corps, at the disposition of the European Union and NATO.
