A new Commander for Eurocorps - French General taking over

On 04 September 2003, the Chiefs of Defense from Eurocorps’ framework nations will hand over the command of Eurocorps from Lieutenant General (GE) Holger KAMMERHOFF to Lieutenant General (FR) Jean-Louis PY.

LtGen Kammerhoff, who has been in command since December 2001, achieved the certification of the EUROCORPS as a High Readiness Force Headquarters, the elite of NATO’s command structure, making the Eurocorps available for the European Union and NATO.

LtGen Py is the former Chief of Staff of the French Land Forces Command (CFAT) in Lille.

The ceremony will be presided by the French Chief of Defence General BENTEGEAT. He will be joined by the other Eurocorps framework nations’ Chief of Defence: General VAN DAELE from Belgium, General SCHNEIDERHAN from Germany, Colonel RIES from Luxembourg and Admiral MORENO BARBERA from Spain.

The same day in the afternoon, the five framework nations’ Ministers of Defence will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Eurocorps. A multinational tattoo will be organized in Strasbourg, place de la République.
