Eurocorps in Strasbourg (France) successfully finished his CPX, which was especially tailored to test the abilities of the Initial Command Post (ICP) and the Joint Effects Centre (JEC). For the first time this multinational Headquarters tested its ICP with this new element integrated in order to command and control more precise, faster and more ‘mission tailored’.
The scenario foresaw a multinational force in an UN mandated and EU led operation. A force equivalent of more than 3 Divisions ( or 60.000 soldiers) was played, in reality some 600 personnel from the 5 Framework Nations plus Poland, Greece, The Netherlands, Turkey, Austria and USA were busy feeding the exercise or collecting information for the detailed evaluation and ‘lessons identified’. Not to forget the ‘real life support’!
The figures include the almost 130 men and women of the ICP, which were the primary target audience and the focal point for all injects, tasks and incidents.
After more than a week of busy exercising the Commanding General Eurocorps, Spanish Lieutenant General Pedro Pitarch, was satisfied with the results: the tested procedures were workable solutions, the way how the given tasks were dealt with demonstrated, that the Corps could maintain his high professional standard as a ‘High Readiness Headquarters’. And even further developed this standard by integrating and testing new and efficient elements.
