EUROCORPS starts Exercise Common Tenacity 2007

Strasbourg - 30 October 2007. From 05th to 23rd November 2007, the Headquarters Eurocorps will conduct an exercise at the Army Warfighting Simulation Centre in Wildflecken, Germany. The exercise, Common Tenacity 2007, is another important step in maintaining and improving Eurocorps’ capabilities as a High Readiness Headquarters, this time in its role as a Land Component Command.

The purpose of this main exercise in 2007 is to train the headquarters’ personnel to practise their operational capability in planning and executing a multi-brigade operation in the framework of a “Three-Block-Operations”.

“Three-Block-Operations” is a concept, to describe the complex spectrum of challenges likely to be faced by soldiers on the modern battlefield. The soldiers may be required to conduct simultaneously full-scale military action, peacekeeping operations and humanitarian relief.

In addition, Common Tenacity 2007 will set the conditions for the French-German Brigade, which is already in peacetime under operational command of the Eurocorps, to train in the configuration of a Battle Group in the framework of the European Union Battle Group concept.

Additional exercise participants are coming from Austrian, Belgian, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Polish and Spanish units and headquarters. Common Tenacity 2007 will bring together more than 1000 participants in a mainly Computer Assisted Exercise. The German Army Warfighting Centre provides the tools and support for conducting this kind of exercise.
