Engineers of EUROCORPS at Camp Vogelsang for the exercise EURETEX

Strasbourg - From 23 to 28 May 2004 Belgian, French, German and Spanish engineer units will participate in the annual exercise EURETEX in Vogelsang (Germany). An engineer unit from the German-French Brigade from Mühlheim (Germany) will participate as well. The German-French Brigade is permanently under operational command of Headquarters Eurocorps.

Each year EURETEX exercises are organized by a different nation. The aim of the exercise is to improve the interoperability between de different units and to strenghten the relations between the engineers’ units and HQ Eurocorps. Another goal is the exchange of knowledge and the use of equipment of the different units.. Responsable for the edition EURETEX 2004 is the Belgian Operational Command of the Land Forces (COMOPSLAND). A total of 700 soldiers from the four framework nations will be present at Camp Vogelsang. Due to the imminent closing of Camp Vogelsang, EURETEX will be one of the last multinational exercises organized there.

The media are invited to pay a visit at exercise EURETEX at Camp Vogelsang on 26 May 2004 at 09:30. The program for the media includes a briefing on Eurocorps and Euretex followed by a visit to the dynamic tactical activities, the engineers’ equipment and the use of explosives. On request, the possibility to talk to the exercise organizing authority or participants is foreseen.
